Dâmbovița district
Dâmbovița [ ˈdɨmbovitsa ] ( ) is a Romanian district ( Județ ) in the Wallachia region with the district capital Târgovişte . Its common abbreviation and license plate are DB.
The circle Dâmboviţa borders in the north to the Braşov County , in the east of the county Prahova , in the southeast of the Ilfov county , in the south of the circles Giurgiu and Teleorman and in the west to the County of Arges .

On October 20, 2011, the Dâmbovița district had 518,745 inhabitants, a population density of 127 inhabitants per km².

The district has a total area of 4054 km², which corresponds to 1.70% of the area of Romania. Located in the south of the Southern Carpathians ( Carpații Meridionali ), it extends partly into the Great Wallachia (Muntenia) . The Dâmbovița district is crossed by the Ialomița river ; crosses the south - in a south-easterly direction - the river Argeș (Argisch) .
