Găeşti is a town in Dâmbovița County in Great Wallachia in Romania .
location
Găești is located in the Wallachian Plain , a few kilometers north of the Argeș River . The district capital Târgovişte is about 25 km north.
history
Găești was first mentioned in a document in 1498. The agricultural town has developed into a local market and trading center since the beginning of the 19th century. There was also an important post office on the road between Bucharest and Câineni . The place took another upswing after the commissioning of the railway between Bucharest and Piteşti in 1875.
The most important branches of the economy are trade, agriculture and metal processing.
population
In 1777, 1284 people lived in 284 houses in the area of today's city. In 1992 the highest number of inhabitants was registered with 18,556. At the 2002 census, 15,585 people lived in Găeşti, including 15,366 Romanians , 194 Roma and 16 Hungarians .

Găeşti is located on the railway line from Bucharest to Piteşti. There are direct connections to both cities several times a day. The A1 motorway , which currently runs from Bucharest to Piteşti, runs ten kilometers south of the city . The city is crossed by the national road Drum național 7 ; touched by drum național 61 and drum național 72 . There are regular bus connections to Târgovişte, among others.
