The road near Veştem (west)

The road begins in the capital Bucharest and initially runs in a north-westerly direction roughly parallel to the Argeș River via Găești to Pitești , now at the same time as European route 81 , from there into the Olt Valley at Râmnicu Vâlcea and up the Olt to Tălmaciu (Talmesch) , unites with the drum național 1 and leads to Hermannstadt (Sibiu). Here it turns to the west and leads, at the same time as DN1 and European route 68 and accompanied by the Autostradă 1 , the river Mureș (Marosch) along to Sebeș (Mühlbach) , where it separates again from the DN1. The DN7, accompanied by the motorway, continues westward via Deva (Diemrich) , where the motorway temporarily ends, and Lipova to Arad , which is bypassed in the north, and finally reaches the Romanian-Hungarian border at Nădlac , where it is in the Hungarian 43-as főút passes over.

The length of the road is 525 kilometers.
