The road begins in Șendreni west of Galați , where it branches off from Drum național 2B (also European route 87 ). At some distance it follows the left bank of the Sereth and later the Bârlad to the north-west, takes up the short Drum național 25A connecting with the Drum național 23 at Hanu Conachii at Fundenii Noi and ends at Tecuci on Drum național 24 (also European route 581 ) .
The length of the road is around 68 km.
