The Drum naţional 17 ( Romanian for "National Road 17", short DN17 ) is a main road in Romania . It also forms a section of Europastrasse 58 .
course
The road leads from the town of Dej , where it branches off from Drum național 1C (to the northwest also European route 58 , to the south European route 576 ) to the east, via Beclean (Betlen), from where the Drum național 17D follows the course of the Someșul Mare upwards, and Sărățel (Bistrița-Năsăud) , where she meets the Drum național 17D coming from Reghin (Saxon Rain), in the district capital Bistrița (Bistritz). At the northern edge of this city, the Drum național 17C branches off to the north. The DN17 continues to the east-northeast through the former Nösnerland and over the Tihu Passa pass (also known as Borgo pass; 1200 m ) to the seaside resort of Vatra Dornei . There the Drum național 17D branches off to the east, which follows the course of the Bistrița . The road turns north here and in the village of Mestecăniş near Iacobeni (Suceava) meets the Drum național 18 , which comes from the Prislop pass . Now it turns again to the northeast, crosses the Pasul Mestecăniş and reaches the valley of the Moldova . Between Pojorâta and Câmpulung Moldovenesc the Drum național 17A branches off to the north , which leads to several well-known Moldavian monasteries, while the DN17 continues to follow the Moldova in an easterly direction, opens up further Moldovan monasteries in the vicinity of the town of Gura Humorului , leaves Moldova at Păltinoasa and finally ends in the district capital Suceava at Drum național 2 (also European route 85 ).
The length of the road is around 252 kilometers.
