Dej ( German Burglos or Deesch , Hungarian Dés ) is a city in Romania and is located in the Cluj district in the Transylvania region on the Someș River . In 2004 the city had about 38,100 inhabitants. According to the 1992 census, 17 percent of them were Hungarians . Dej is a railway junction with the Dej Triaj marshalling yard .
history
The settlement was the capital of the Hungarian Szolnok-Doboka County until 1918/1920 . Until 1914 Dej was garrison of the Kgl. Hungarian army and housed the Honvéd Infantry - Regiment . # 32.
According to the Treaty of Trianon , the city came to Romania after the First World War and became the capital of the Someș (Hungarian Szamos) district, only to belong to Hungary again from 1940 to 1944 after the second Vienna arbitration . The Paris Treaty after the Second World War established the affiliation to Romania.
