The Drum naţional 66 ( Romanian for "National Road 66," short DN66 ) is a main road in Romania . At the same time it forms part of the European route 79 .

The road branches off from Drum nașional 6 (also European route 70 ) in Filiași , runs in a general north-westerly direction in the valley of the Jiu (Schil) via the mining town of Rovinari to the district capital of Târgu Jiu , where it crosses the Drum național 67D and the Drum național 67 , then further north to Petroșani , where the Drum național 66A branches off to the west and the Drum național 7A . There, the road turns to the northwest and reached in Hateg the Drum naţional 68 and the drum naţional 68B , bends to the north and leads to the river Stripes along on Călan to Simeria , where the drum naţional 7 crosses and shortly thereafter on the Autostrada A1 ( Europastraße 68 ) ends.
