The Autostrada A6 ( Roman for 'Motorway A6') is a planned motorway in Romania with a total length of approximately 250 km. It should serve as a connection between the capital Bucharest with the Banat region and the southern part of the country. The motorway is to follow along the towns of Craiova , Calafat , Drobeta Turnu Severin , Lugoj and intersect with the A1 autostrada near Balinț .
11.4 km have already been in operation since December 2013. This section was part of the construction contract for the first section of the A1 motorway between the Lugoj and Deva sectors . A connection with the future Pitesti – Craiova motorway is planned near Craiova .
