The road branches off at Ceacu northwest of Călărași from Drum național 3 to the west and runs parallel to the north at some distance from the Danube via Mânăstirea to Oltenița , where it meets Drum național 4 , where it ends. From Oltenița there is a Danube ferry to Tutrakan (Тутракан) in Bulgaria .
