The road branches off at Vatra Dornei from Drum național 17 ( European route 58 ) and leads in the valley of the Bistrița down through Crucea , Broșteni and Borca to Poiana Teiului (Neamț) . There it meets the Drum național 15 at the northwestern end of the Lacul Izvorul Muntelui reservoir and ends there.
