The road leads from the town of Valea lui Mihai ( Hungarian Érmihályfalva ), where it starts at Drum național 19 ( European route 671 ), west to the Romanian-Hungarian border near the Hungarian village of Nyírábrány . On the Hungarian side, 48-as főút (main road 48) to Debrecen is its continuation.
