Border between Romania and Hungary
The border between Romania and Hungary is a land border in East Central Europe . The border area is located in the Pannonian Plain and separates the territory of the Republic of Romania in the west-northwest and the landlocked state of Hungary in the east . The border is largely an ethnographic border, after the First World War by the Paris suburb treaties ( Treaty of Trianon established 1920) and after the Second World War by the Paris Peace Accords has been restored from the 1947th

Of the 3069 kilometers of Romania's border , 424 kilometers run to Hungary, in the east of the Schengen states . The political border between Romania and Hungary runs in the Carpathian Basin in the historical landscape of the Kreisch area . Hungary is in the Central European Time Zone (CET), Romania in the Eastern European Time Zone (EET).
The border runs in the former Kingdom of Hungary in the historical administrative areas of Csongrád , Békés , Hajdú and Szabolcs in today's Hungary and on the Romanian side the former counties of Arad , Bihar , Sathmar and Ugocsa, the latter being the largest part of western Ukraine .
