The Drum național 5 ( Romanian for "National Road 5", DN5 for short ) is a national road in Romania .

The continuous four-lane road begins in the capital Bucharest and runs, at the same time as European route 70 and European route 85 , in a south-westerly direction to Aduna Copii-Copăceni (with a motorway-like bypass), and reaches at Giurgiu , where the Drum național 5C branches off up the Danube Romanian-Bulgarian border formed by the Danube , which it crosses on the Giurgiu-Russe Friendship Bridge , which opened in 1954 and is subject to tolls .
