Ilfov district
Ilfov is a Romanian county ( Județ ) in the Wallachia region . Its headquarters are in Buftea . Its common abbreviation and the license plate are IF. Ilfov has existed as an independent group since April 10, 1997.
The Ilfov district surrounds the capital Bucharest . In the north it borders on the district of Prahova , in the east on the districts Ialomița and Călărași , in the south and west on the district Giurgiu , and in the west it borders on the district Dâmbovița .
Demographics
At the 2002 census, the Ilfov district had 300,123 inhabitants and a population density of 190 inhabitants per km².
In 2011, the district had 388,738 inhabitants, thus a population density of 246 inhabitants per km²

The district has a total area of 1583 km², which corresponds to 0.66% of the area of Romania and is therefore the smallest of the 41 districts.
