Popeşti-Leordeni is a town in Ilfov County in Romania .

Popeşti-Leordeni is located in the Wallachian Plain , directly on the southeastern outskirts of Bucharest . The center of the Romanian capital is about 8 km away.
history
The present-day city emerged from three villages: Popeşti-Conduratu (or Pavlicheni), Popeşti-Români and Leordeni. They were first mentioned in a document in 1530. In 1828 - during the Russo-Turkish War - Roman Catholic believers from the area of Nikopol (Bulgaria) were settled in the municipality .
The most important branches of the economy are the textile and food industries as well as trade and commerce. Many residents commute to Bucharest to work.
