District of Olt
Olt is a Romanian district ( Județ ) in the Walachia region with the district capital Slatina . It is named after the river Olt of the same name , its common abbreviation and the license plate are OT.
The district of Olt borders in the north on the districts Vâlcea and Argeş , in the east on the districts Argeş and Teleorman , in the south on Bulgaria and in the west on the district Dolj .
Demographics
In 2002 the district had 489,274 inhabitants and a population density of 89 inhabitants per km².
In the 2011 census, the district of Olt had 436,400 inhabitants, which means a population density of 79 inhabitants per km².

The district has a total area of 5498 km², which corresponds to 2.30% of the area of Romania.
Located in the south of Romania, the Olt (Alt) river crosses the district over a length of approx. 100 kilometers in a north-south direction. The part west of the river is in Little Wallachia , while the part east of it is in Great Wallachia . In the south, the Olt district borders the Danube over a length of 47 kilometers .
