Caracal lies on a plateau between the lower rivers Jiu and Olt .

Attractions

In the city you can find the ruins of a tower that was built in 217 by the Roman emperor Caracalla . The city was named after this ruler. Other tourist destinations are the All Saints Church and the memorial house of the rebel Iancu Jiancu .
