Scorniceşti is a town in Olt County , in the historical region of Great Wallachia in Romania, with about 12,500 inhabitants.
Nicolae Ceaușescu was born here in 1918 , communist president and chairman of the Romanian State Council from 1965 to 1989.

Scorniceşti is located in the northeast of the Olt district , 25 kilometers from the district capital Slatina and 48 kilometers from Piteşti on the European route E 574 . Scorniceşti has no rail access; the nearest train station is in Potcoava, 15 kilometers away .
