Jill Rook

Jill Rook (* 1936 ) is an English tennis and table tennis player . She took part in three world championships in table tennis in the 1950s . In 1958 she was European champion with the team.

Career

Jill Rook's parents were tennis players . Therefore, Jill Rook was also active in tennis, but her main field of activity was table tennis. She started playing tournaments at the age of 13, and two years later she won the English Youth Championship. Her trainer Jack Carrington played a major role in her career .

From 1954 to 1957 she took part in three world championships , where she was fourth with the team in 1957 . In 1958 she was European champion with the English team. She then won the English National Championship in doubles twice , in 1959/60 with Diane Rowe , in 1961/62 with her sister Rosalind Rowe .

At the same time, Jill Rook played tennis quite successfully. So she reached the semi-finals of the English Junior Championship in 1954, where she lost to Ann Haydon . It was in this sport that she met tennis player Alan Mills, whom she married in March 1960. After that she performed under the name Jill Mills .
