Roznov is a small town in the Neamț district in western Moldova in Romania .
location
Roznov is located on the eastern edge of the Goşman Mountains , part of the Eastern Carpathians . The Bistrița flows through the city . The district capital Piatra Neamț is located about 15 km northwest.
history
Roznov was indirectly mentioned in a document for the first time in 1419. The current name appears for the first time in 1576, when the place is mentioned as belonging to the property of the Bistrița monastery. In the second half of the 17th century, the place became the seat of a secular rule of the noble Ruset family. The place took an economic boom with the construction of the railway line from Bacau to Piatra Neam Ort in 1885. In October 2003 Roznov was declared a city.
The most important branches of industry are agriculture, wood processing and the textile industry.
population
In the 2002 census, the city registered 8,726 inhabitants, including 8,448 Romanians and 272 Roma . 4867 lived in the actual city, the rest in the incorporated villages.

Roznov is located on the railway line from Bacau to Piatra Neamț / Bicaz . In both directions there are currently (2009) around seven local and two express trains per day. There are regular bus connections to Piatra Neamț.
