Breaza is a city in Prahova County in Romania .
location
Breaza is located in Great Wallachia on the Prahova River in the southern foothills of the Carpathian Mountains . The district capital Ploieşti is located about 40 km southeast.
history
Breaza was first mentioned in a document in 1431. In addition to agriculture, trade - due to the location on the road to the Predeal Carpathian Pass - played an important role for a long time . In the 19th century there was a temporary customs post in the village.
Breaza developed into a health resort in the 20th century; In 1952 it was declared a city. Today, next to trade and light industry, tourism is the most important branch of the economy.

In the 2002 census, 18,199 inhabitants were registered in the city, including 18,163 Romanians , 12 Hungarians , 4 Roma and 4 Germans .

Breaza is located on the Ploieşti – Braşov railway , one of the most important transport links in Romania. There are three stops in the city area (Breaza, Nistorești and Breaza Nord). There are regular bus connections to Adunai , Câmpina and Sinaia . Europastraße 60 runs through the city .
