The Vedea (also Râul Vedea ) is a left tributary of the Danube in Romania .

The Vedea rises near Făgețelu in the foothills of the Southern Carpathians in the Olt district . From there it flows in a southerly direction through the Argeș and Teleorman districts . In the upper reaches the Vedea flows through hilly terrain. It finally reaches the Wallachian Plain , turns to the southeast and flows into the Danube 12 km east of Zimnicea . The Vedea has a length of 224 km. It drains an area of ​​5430 km². Its catchment area borders on that of the Olt to the west and that of the Argeș to the east . Cities on the river are Roșiorii de Vede and Alexandria . The main tributaries of the Vedea are the Cotmeana and Teleorman , both from the left.
