The Almaty Central Stadium ( Kazakh Орталық стадион ; Russian Центральный стадион Алма-Ата ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the largest Kazakh city of Almaty . It seats 23,804 spectators and is the home ground of the football club FK Qairat Almaty . In addition to the Astana Arena , the central stadium is the venue for the Kazakh national football team .
history
The facility was built in 1958 and modernized in 1997. Since then, the venue has accommodated 23,804 spectators. In addition to football, the Kazakh National Rugby Union team uses the arena. Up until 2008, the Kazakh Football Cup finals were played almost regularly in the stadium.
The playing field is equipped with a hybrid turf.
