The Breiðablik UBK is an Icelandic football club from Kópavogur . The club colors of the club founded in 1950 are green-white-red. The club's women's football division is the most successful in Iceland.

General

The association was founded on April 12, 1950. At first there was only one men's team. Later a women's team was also founded.

The name Breidablik comes from Nordic mythology and means something like Balder's home. The nickname Blikar is derived from the second part of the name Breiðablik and means something like the glorious or the ducks in Icelandic . The home of the club is the Kópavogsvöllur stadium , which has a capacity of 3,500 people.

Women's soccer

In 1972 the Úrvalsdeild , the top division in Icelandic women's football, was founded and Breiðablik was part of the game. Breiðablik is the only club that has never been relegated from the league.
