The Fortuna Hjørring is a women's football -Verein from the Danish town of Hjørring , North Jutland . The association was founded in 1966 and has 350 members. Hjørring is currently the record cup winner in Denmark with eight titles.

history

Initially, Fortuna Hjørring was something of an appendage to the Hjørring club. The women of the men's soccer team founded a knitting club. For fun, the members kicked the ball. In 1970 it was decided to take football seriously.

In 1994 they won the Danish championship for the first time. A year later, in addition to the championship, they also won the cup, the indoor championship and the Nordic championship. The greatest success in the club's history was participation in the 2003 UEFA Women's Cup Final . Here they were defeated by the Swedish club Umeå IK with 1: 4 (A) and 0: 3 (H).

In 2016, the championship and cup win could be celebrated for the fourth time. On May 19, 2019, the club won the Danish Cup for the ninth time after beating long-term rivals Brøndby IF 1-0 in the final .
