The region of Nordjylland ( German : Region Nordjutland ) in Denmark includes Northern Jutland , the islands of Vendsyssel-Thy , Mors and Læsø and the municipality of Mariagerfjord . The administration is based in Aalborg .

In the official statistics, the region is identical to the part of North Jutland ( Landsdel Nordjylland ).

Emergence

The regions were created in 2007 by the Danish Parliament. With the simultaneous dissolution of the previous districts (Danish amtskommune ), they form the middle level between the municipalities and the state central administration ( states ).

Geographically, Region Nordjylland covers the former district of Nordjyllands Amt , the parts of Viborg Amt north of the Limfjord and the part of Mariager Municipality that has joined the new Mariagerfjord Municipality .

economy

In comparison with the gross domestic product of the European Union expressed in purchasing power standards , the region achieved an index of 105 (EU-25: 100) in 2015, significantly lower than the Danish average of 127 but above the EU average. Overall, a GDP of 23.1 billion euros was generated.

In 2017 the unemployment rate was 5.4%, which is below the national average.

Regional Council

The current legislative period began on January 1, 2018. The Social Democrat Ulla Astman has been the chairman since 2007 . The 41 mandates were distributed as follows:
