The Jammerbugt municipality has existed since January 1, 2007 as a result of the municipal reform in Jutland . It emerged from the former municipalities of Brovst , Fjerritslev , Pandrup and Aabybro in Nordjyllands Amt . This new municipality covers an area of 863.90 km² and has a total population of 38,324 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
It is part of the Nordjylland region (Northern Jutland region). The seat of the administration is in Aabybro . The name of the community is derived from the Jammer Bay .
