Vesthimmerlands Kommune is a Danish municipality in the Nordjylland region , the administrative seat is in Aars . Vesthimmerland has a total population of 36,727 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) and an area of ​​769.80 km².

It was created in the course of local government reform on January 1, 2007: The Himmerland municipality of Aalestrup in Viborg Amt (with the exception of Hvilsom Skoledistrikt (German: "School District"), which was added to the Mariagerfjord municipality ) and the neighboring municipalities of Farsø , Løgstør and Aars in Nordjyllands Amt were merged.
