Farsø Kommune was a municipality in North Jutland in northern Denmark until 2007 . It was created in 1970 from the amalgamation of the following parishes, which in turn were parts of rural communities:
- Ullits and Fovlum (rural community Ullits-Fovlum )
- Vester Hornum , Hyllebjerg and Flejsborg (rural municipality Vester Hornum-Hyllebjerg-Flejsborg )
- Lovns and Alstrup (rural community Lovns-Alstrup )
- Strandby and Farsø ( Strandby-Farsø rural municipality )
- a small part of Vesterbølle whose main part is Aalestrup joined
The municipality is located on the Limfjord , at Strandby there is the important archaeological site of Ertebølle . Neighboring municipalities were Løgstør in the north, Aars in the east and Aalestrup in the south . During the municipal reform in 2007, Farsø was merged with these to form the new municipality of Vesthimmerland .
