Løgstør Kommune was a municipality in North Jutland in northern Denmark until 2007 . It was created in 1970 through the amalgamation of several parish communities, which in several cases had come together in twos or threes in the 1960s:
- Løgstør , city
- Kornum and Løgsted (rural municipality Kornum-Løgsted )
- Ranum and Malle (rural community Ranum-Malle )
- Næsborg , Skarp Salling and Oudrup (rural municipality of Næsborg-Skarp Salling-Oudrup )
- Vilsted with the station town of Vindblæs (rural municipality Vilsted-Vindblæs )
- Overlade (rural municipality Overlade)
- Aggersborg (rural municipality of Aggersborg)
The latter is geographically not in Himmerland , but in the Han Herreder area north of the Limfjord . This land bridge on Jammerbucht connects the Thy and Vendsyssel landscapes .
With the municipal reform in Denmark that came into effect in 2007, the municipality of Løgstør expired. Together with the neighboring municipalities of Aars and Farsø to the south and Aalestrup further south, it merged to form the municipality of Vesthimmerland with 38,000 inhabitants.
