Until the end of 2006, Aars Kommune was a municipality in the North Jylland district in north-western Denmark . The municipality was created in the course of the municipal reform of 1970 from the following parishes:
- Blære (rural municipality of Blære-Ejdrup )
- Gislum and Vognsild (rural community Gislum-Vognsild)
- Skivum and Giver (rural municipality Skivum-Giver )
- Gundersted (rural community Gundersted)
- Havbro (Havbro Rural Parish)
- Ulstrup (rural municipality Ulstrup)
- Aars (rural municipality Års)
The municipality of Aars expired at the end of 2006 when it was merged with the neighboring municipalities of Aalestrup , Farsø and Løgstør to form the new municipality of Vesthimmerland with 38,000 inhabitants.
