Aalestrup Kommune was a municipality in North Jutland in northern Denmark . It belonged to the then office of Viborg . It was created during the municipal reform in 1970 from the following parishes, all of which belonged to the historic district of Rindsharde :
- Gedsted Sogn and Fjelsø Sogn (rural municipality Gedsted-Fjelsø )
- Hvam Sogn and Hvilsom Sogn (rural municipality Hvam-Hvilsom )
- Simested Sogn (rural municipality Simested)
- Testrup Sogn (rural community Testrup)
- Vester Bølle Sogn (rural municipality Vester Bølle)
- Øster Bølle Sogn (rural municipality Øster Bølle)
- Eelestrup
After the Danish municipal reform, which came into force on January 1, 2007, most of the municipality became part of the Vesthimmerlands Municipality , the remaining parts of which were the municipalities of Aars , Farsø and Løgstør , which belong to the North Jutland department . However, parts of Hvam joined the large municipality of Viborg , Hvilsom, however, the large municipality of Mariagerfjord .
