Until December 2006, Karup Kommune was a Danish municipality in what was then the Viborg Office in Jutland .
Since January 2007 it has been part of the new Viborg municipality , which now also includes the following parts: the “old” Viborg municipality , Bjerringbro municipality , Fjends municipality , Møldrup municipality , Tjele municipality and the school district Hvam of Aalestrup municipality .
The Karup municipality was created in the course of the Danish administrative reform of 1970 and comprised the following Sogn :
