Aalestrup or Ålestrup is a Danish town with 2743 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in western Himmerland . The village has been part of the Vesthimmerlands Municipality in the Nordjylland region since the 2007 municipal reform . It was previously the main town of the Aalestrup municipality in the Viborg district .
Aalestrup is about 14 km south of Aars , 18 km east of Hvalpsund and about 18 km west of Hobro .
