Hvalpsund is a Danish town with 630 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in western Himmerland . The village has been part of the Vesthimmerlands Municipality in the Nordjylland region since the 2007 municipal reform . Before that she was part of the Farsø municipality in the North Jutland department .

Hvalpsund was the terminus of the Aalborg – Hvalpsund (AHB) railway between 1910 and 1969 .

There is a ferry connection from Hvalpsund via Hvalpsund to Sundsøre on the nearby Salling peninsula . Between 1927 and 1969 there was the only private railway ferry connection in Denmark, on which the smallest Danish railway ferry Hvalpsund was used.
