Anunnaki
The Anunnaki (since Adad-nīrārī III. Seldom also d GÍŠ.U also Anunaki, Anunaku, Anunnaku, Anunnaka) are the gods of the underworld in Mesopotamian mythology , compared to those of heaven, the Igigu . In the Enūma eliš , the Igigi have to work for the Anunnaki until they rebel against it. Both the Igigi and the Anunnaki are bound by the tables of fate that Enki - or Aššur in Assyrian mythology - has at his disposal. In popular scientific representations, the Anunnaki are often incorrectly equated with the Sumerian council of gods of the Anunna .
Numerous pseudoscientific theories revolve around the Anunnaki. The pre-astronaut Zecharia Sitchin (1920–2010) interpreted them as humanoid aliens from the (hypothetical) planet Nibiru , which humans would once have created as work slaves. According to the conspiracy theorist David Icke (* 1952), on the other hand, they are vampiric shape- shifters of originally reptilian shape from the constellation of the dragon , who still live undetected on earth and want to establish a totalitarian "New World Order" .
