KR Reykjavík (KR) is an Icelandic sports club from the capital Reykjavík . Its official name is Knattspyrnufelag Reykjavíkur , indicating German as Reykjavík football club means. Despite this name and its origins as a football club, the sports club today has various departments, including basketball , handball , the Icelandic ring sport Glíma and chess . The football department is Iceland's record champions in football. The women's department is also very successful.

The club was founded on February 16, 1899 , making it the oldest football club in Iceland. The club won their first of 26 Icelandic championships in 1912 and the last in 2013 . In addition, 14 cup victories and 7 league cup victories were won in Iceland.
