The Icelandic football championship in 1999 was the 88th season of the highest Icelandic football league . The league began on May 18, 1999 and ended with the last games on September 18, 1999.

Ten teams took part in the competition, which was held in a simple round trip. Record champions KR Reykjavík won their 21st title, and with their victory in the cup competition they won the double for the tenth time. In addition, the club managed the feat of winning the double with the women's team in the same year, which no other club in Iceland has managed to date. Defending champion ÍB Vestmannaeyja was in the final table with 7, the third placed KS / Leiftur already behind with 19 points.

The newly promoted Víkingur Reykjavík and Valur Reykjavík failed to stay in the league.
