The Pepsideild 2012 was the 101st season of the highest Icelandic football league . It started on May 6, 2012, and ended on September 29, 2012 with the 22nd and final round.

Defending champion KR Reykjavík , who won his 25th championship so far in the preseason , only achieved fourth place. The FH Hafnarfjörður became champion and won his sixth title.

The league's twelve teams played against each other in a simple round-trip round, so that each team played 22 games. The last two teams UMF Selfoss and Ungmennafélag Grindavík were relegated at the end of the season.

The champion is admitted to qualify for the Champions League 2013/14 , the second and third placed team and the cup winner to qualify for the Europa League .

Compared to the previous year, the composition of the league changed as follows: Þór Akureyri and Víkingur Reykjavík were relegated to the 1st deild karla (2nd performance level) as eleventh and twelfth-placed teams in the 2011 season . The local master ÍA Akranes and the second-placed UMF Selfoss , however, rose to the first division.
