Ekstraklasa 2010/11

The 2011/12 Ekstraklasa was the 78th season of the highest Polish men's soccer division since it was founded in 1927. The season began on July 29, 2011 and ended on May 6, 2012. A total of sixteen clubs took part in the 2011 / 12 part. The defending champion was Wisła Krakau , which won its thirteenth Polish championship title last year. Newcomers from the second Polish division were ŁKS Łódź and - for the first time in the club's history - Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała .

Season course

Overall, the season was an exciting and balanced season. Many teams played for the championship. Proof of this is the number of different leaders. Four teams (Korona Kielce, Lech Posen, Legia Warsaw and Śląsk Wrocław) were top of the table, and the top team was replaced eight times by another club. Two game days before the end of the season, six clubs (Korona Kielce, Lech Posen, Legia Warsaw, Polonia Warsaw, Ruch Chorzów and Śląsk Wrocław) had the mathematical opportunity to become champions. On the 28th matchday, Cracovia Krakow was the first relegated team. On matchday 29, the second relegated team was determined with ŁKS Łódź. In addition, the league leaders Legia Warsaw was ousted after a defeat by Lech Posen, Ruch Chorzów and the new leaders Śląsk Wrocław. The decision for the championship was made on the last day of the match. On May 6, 2012 Śląsk Wrocław made the championship perfect with a 1-0 away win against last year's champions Wisła Krakau. Ruch Chorzów and Legia Warsaw, who also both won their games, came second and third. Lech Posen was only fourth after a draw. The biggest disappointment was certainly last year's champion Wisła Krakau, who did not participate in the championship fight. The club was only in the middle of the league. The biggest surprise was the newcomer and newcomer Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała. On matchday 27, the club made the non-relegation perfect.
