Danijel Ljuboja ( Serbian - Cyrillic Данијел Љубоја ; born September 4, 1978 in Vinkovci , Yugoslavia ) is a former Serbian football player on the position of the striker , alternatively as a "hanging tip".

Ljuboja has both Serbian and French citizenship.

Career

His first club was NK Dinamo Vinkovci , then he went to NK Osijek . His next stops were Red Star Belgrade , FC Sochaux , Racing Strasbourg and Paris Saint-Germain .

With Strasbourg and Paris, he had celebrated his greatest successes so far: French Cup winner with Racing Strasbourg and French Vice- champion with Paris St. Germain.

From 2005 to 2006 he was in the squad of VfB Stuttgart . He was initially only loaned from Paris St. Germain, but in the spring of 2006 the purchase option was exercised and the player was signed until 2009.

In the summer, Ljuboja asked VfB to double his earnings despite a valid contract. The club then released him from the professional team as a punishment in the summer of 2006, Ljuboja had to train with the 2nd team from the regional league , although he was not allowed to play there.

At the end of August 2006 he was loaned to Hamburger SV for a year , which had a purchase option. After Ljuboja missed several team appointments in early February, coach Huub Stevens transferred him to the HSV amateur team for a week. After he continued not to exert himself in training, he was banned from the first team until the end of the season and then had to play in the regional league. The HSV had not drawn the purchase option because of this behavior.

Since Ljuboja had not signed with a new club until the beginning of the 2007/08 season , he started training with the second team at VfB Stuttgart on July 1, 2007. However, the board and coach made it clear to him that he would not play any more games for VfB Stuttgart. Should he find a club that would deposit an attractive transfer fee for him, he could leave the club on the spot. At the end of July 2007, AC Siena contacted and wanted to sign Ljuboja. However, the transfer did not materialize.

In January 2008 Ljuboja trained with VfL Wolfsburg on a trial basis , with whom he flew to the training camp. He was able to convince coach Felix Magath , among others ; on January 22, his signing on loan until the end of the season was announced. On the 25th matchday of the 2007/08 Bundesliga season he scored his first competitive goal for the Wolves in the home game of VfL Wolfsburg against his former club, Hamburger SV . Wolfsburg waived a purchase option that would have tied Ljuboja to the wolves in the long term .

After his contract with VfB Stuttgart, dated until June 2009, came into force again, he was pardoned before the start of the 2008/09 season and returned to the first team's squad. In addition, Ljuboja publicly apologized to the fans for his mistakes during the VfB season opening.

In February 2009 he was again removed from the professional squad for disciplinary reasons and trained with the second team until his contract expired at the end of the season.

On July 23, 2009 he moved to the French first division club Grenoble Foot and played 34 of 38 league games in which he scored 10 goals; He could not avert relegation to the 2nd division with the team. In the following season Ljuboja played at league competitor OGC Nice with whom he was able to keep the league with 17th place (out of 20).

For the 2011/12 season he switched to the Polish first division club Legia Warsaw for whom he made his debut on August 7, 2011 (2nd matchday) in a 3-1 win in the away game against Cracovia Krakow and on the following matchday (August 12th) with a 3-1 -Win the home game against Górnik Zabrze , scoring his first two league goals.

On July 20, Ljuboja announced the signing of a one-year contract with French Ligue 2 - league club RC Lens.
