HNK Cibalia Vinkovci is a Croatian football club from the city of Vinkovci .
history
The clubs Željeznički sportski klub (German railway sports club ) and GSK "Cibalia" , each founded in 1919 , merged in 1920 to form the ŽGSK "Cibalia" . After the Second World War the association was called NK Dinamo Vinkovci .
In 1968 Dinamo Vinkovci qualified for the then newly founded second Yugoslav league, in 1982 they were promoted to the first division of Yugoslavia, from which in 1987 they were relegated to the second division.
After Croatia's declaration of independence , the club was named Hrvatski nogometni club "CIBALIA" Vinkovci on September 13, 1990 and in 1992 was a founding member of the 1st HNL .
Since then, the club has always played in the first division of Croatia except for the 1997/98 and 2004/05 seasons. The highest placements were two fifth places in the 1992/93 and 2002/03 seasons. The club's greatest success came in 1999 when they reached the final in the Croatian Cup .
At the European level, Cibalia Vinkovci played in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2000 and 2003 , and in 2003 they made it to the semi-finals, where VfL Wolfsburg had the upper hand.
