Ivan Bošnjak [ ˈiʋan ˈbɔʃɲak ] (born February 6, 1979 in Vinkovci , SR Croatia , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian football player .

Career

Bošnjak began his career in the 1996/97 season with the Croatian first division club Cibalia Vinkovci . In 2000 he moved to league rivals Hajduk Split , with whom he became Croatian champions in 2001. From 2002 to 2003 he was with the Libyan club al-Ittihad from Tripoli under contract, but without having played a league game. Bošnjak had his most successful time as a club player between 2003 and 2006 at Dinamo Zagreb , where he was the league's top scorer with 22 goals in the 2005/06 season and won the Croatian Football Cup in 2004 and the Croatian championship again with his club . He could not confirm his performance in Zagreb in the next three years with the Belgian first division club KRC Genk , with whom he won the Belgian Cup in 2009. In the 2009/10 season he played for the Greek first division club Iraklis Thessaloniki . 2011 Bošnjak moved to Chongqing Lifan in the second Chinese division . In 2012 he returned to the Croatian league at HNK Rijeka for a few months before ending his career in 2014 after two brief engagements with the Indonesian first division clubs Brunei DPMM FC and Persija Jakarta .

Bošnjak played 14 games for the Croatian national football team between 2000 and 2006 , in which he scored a goal. He also took part in the 2006 World Cup.
