The Ekstraklasa 2009/10 was the 76th edition of the Polish top division in football . The season began on July 31, 2009 and ended on May 15, 2010. Lech Posen won the title for the sixth time in 17 years.

Season course

Last year's cup winner Lech Posen moved into the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League by winning the championship . With 51 goals, Poznan was the most accurate team in the league and with 20 goals against in 30 games of the season consisting of the first and second half of the season, the team also had the best defense together with runner-up Wisła Krakow . The defending champions ended up three points behind and reached the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League . Third Ruch Chorzów was twelve points behind, just one point ahead of Legia Warsaw, who secured participation in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League. In the third qualifying round of this competition moved the league eleventh Jagiellonia Białystok , who won the final of Puchar Polski and thus completed the Polish field of participants in the European Cup for the next season. Jagiellonia Bialystok was deducted ten points because of a corruption affair in the 2004/05 season - without this deduction the club would have ended up in sixth place instead of eleventh.

The teams in places 15 and 16 had to be relegated directly to the Unibet 1st league . After the 30 matchdays Odra Wodzisław and Piast Gliwice occupied the relegation places, each only one point behind the saving 14th place, which Arka Gdynia finally held. Bottom of the table Gliwice conceded the most goals in the league with 50 goals. Cracovia Krakow and Polonia Warsaw scored the fewest goals (25 each). For the new 2010/11 season, Widzew Łódź and Górnik Zabrze rose from the Unibet 1st League .
