Hartmut Hühnerbein (born March 7, 1949 in Hildesheim ) is a German pastor, educator, author and was executive director of the Christian Youth Village Association in Germany (CJD) eV until March 2014. He is the chairman of the foundation for Christian values.

Life

After training as a forwarding agent, Hühnerbein first studied pedagogy at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe in Bochum / Düsseldorf and then completed a postgraduate course in theology, which he completed with the first and second state exams.

In 1977 he was ordained pastor of the Westphalian regional church. Hühnerbein was briefly in community service in Bochum and Dortmund. He became head of studies at the Social Pedagogical Institute in Dortmund and Pedagogical Director of the CJD vocational training center in Homburg / Saar. From 1980 to 1983 he was pastor of the Ev. Parish of Versmold, at the same time he headed the religious education department of the CJD. In 1983 he became the main department head at the CJD headquarters, Ebersbach, with a focus on personnel and personnel policy, theology and religious education, continuing education and training, and the external representation of the CJD. In 2000 he was appointed spokesman for the CJD management team and in 2002 as spokesman for the executive board of the CJD. On March 31, 2014 he finished his service at the CJD, his successor is Matthias Dargel . Hühnerbein is chairman of the board of the foundation for Christian value education and chairman of the shareholders' meeting of WERTESTARTER * Christliche Wertebildung gGmbH.

In 2016, the State Secretary in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Education, Marion von Wartenberg , presented him with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon on behalf of the Federal President . With this award his great commitment to the youth was recognized.

Hartmut Hühnerbein is married to his wife Margarete for the second time. His first wife Ursula died in 2005. He has three sons from his first marriage.

Volunteering

Hühnerbein was a member of the board of the YMCA Association from 1999 to October 2015 and was a member of the extended board of the Congress of Christian Leaders (KcF). From 2003 to 2009 he was a member of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) and the Württembergisch Ev. Regional Synod (2001-2007), where he was chairman of the Committee on Church, Society and the Public. From 2000 to 2016 he was chairman and head of the board of trustees of the Baden-Württemberg Youth Foundation. Hühnerbein was also chairman of the Arnold Dannenmann Foundation.

Today Hühnerbein is a member of the general assembly of the CJD, a member of the board of trustees of the CJD children and youth foundation, chairman of the Ursula Hühnerbein foundation, member of the board of trustees of ProChrist and board member of the foundation for Christian value education, as well as chairman of the general assembly of Wertestarter * gGmbH.
