Friedhelm Loh

Friedhelm Loh (born August 16, 1946 ) is a German entrepreneur, owner and chairman of the Friedhelm Loh Group . Since September 2006 he has been Vice President of the BDI and since June 2014 Honorary President of the Central Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry (ZVEI).

Life

After an apprenticeship as a high- voltage electrician, he studied business administration in the second education path and then worked in companies in the metal processing and electrical installation industry (1971–1974 company Merten, Gummersbach). In 1974 he took over the management of the family businesses Rittal and Ritto with around 200 employees at the time. Today he leads the resulting Friedhelm Loh Group with around 11,600 employees (10,000 of them at Rittal) worldwide. In addition, Loh founded several companies and strengthened the corporate association through further company acquisitions.

Loh ran the company for a long time together with his brother Joachim Loh . Two groups of companies have existed since 1989:

  • The Friedhelm Loh Group includes the switch cabinet and housing manufacturer Rittal as well as other companies in the metalworking and renewable energies sectors.
  • Joachim Loh group with Hailo and Meta.

As CEO of the Friedhelm Loh Group and BDI Vice President , he was one of the signatories of the energy policy appeal in August 2010 under the name "Courage and Realism for Germany's Energy Future". The appeal is seen as a lobbying initiative of the four large electricity companies to extend the service life of German nuclear power plants .

Honorary positions

In his region, Loh is active as an ambassador for the Central Hesse region and supports schools and training centers such as StudiumPlus .

From September 2006 Loh was President of the Central Association of Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry (ZVEI). When he left the office of President in June 2014, he was also elected Honorary President of the ZVEI for life. Friedhelm Loh has also been Vice President of the BDI since September 2006 .

Loh is married to Debora Loh. The couple have two sons and a daughter.

He is a board member in the Bibles Association , a member of the foundation board of the Volkenroda Foundation, is involved in evangelical Christian events, e. criticism
