history

The magazine has been published since November 1971 by Manager Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft mbH , which was founded in September 1970 and in which Spiegel-Verlag and, since 1986, Gruner + Jahr have been involved. By 1973 McGraw-Hill also had a 49% stake in the magazine. Gruner + Jahr also publishes the competing magazine Capital , which, however, has a different focus. In 2004, two licensed editions of Manager Magazin were launched in Hungary and Poland. The Hungarian edition has been published under license by the Hungarian subsidiary of Axel Springer Verlag since 2007 . The Polish sister publication was discontinued at the end of 2008.

The Manager Lounge , a subsidiary of Manager Magazin Verlagsgesellschaft, is a network for managers who meet certain requirements (position, earnings).
