Arno Balzer

Arno Balzer (born April 14, 1958 in Biedenkopf an der Lahn ) holds a doctorate in economics, is a German journalist and has been the publisher of the business magazine Bilanz since February 2014 , which has been published as a supplement to the daily newspaper Die Welt since May 2014 .

Life

After graduating from high school, Balzer studied economics at the University of Mainz and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg , where he received his doctorate in 1987 on "In-house labor markets: an explanatory contribution from the perspective of the new institutional economy".

In 1990 he began his journalistic career as an editor for Wirtschaftswoche and then switched to manager magazin , which belongs to the Spiegel Group in Hamburg . Then he initially turned his back on the print media and worked at what was then Daimler-Benz AG in Stuttgart, head of the business and financial press division. In 1992 he returned to manager magazin in a management position .

In April 1999, Balzer was appointed deputy editor-in-chief and on July 1, 2003, editor-in-chief. He thus succeeded Wolfgang Kaden . Martin Noé became his deputy in 2004. In addition, Balzer is the publisher of Harvard Businessmanager , which also appears in manager magazin Verlagsgesellschaft mbH . On July 31, 2013, it was announced that Balzer had been released from his position as editor-in-chief with immediate effect . According to the publisher, the reason for this should have been the different opinions about the further development of the magazine.

In January 2014, the Axel Springer publishing house announced that Arno Balzer would be the publisher of the Bilanz magazine : "In his role, Arno Balzer is responsible in particular for the development and quality of the magazine."
