Steffen Klusmann

Steffen Klusmann (born March 15, 1966 in Karlsruhe ) is a German journalist and currently editor-in-chief of the Hamburg weekly magazine Der Spiegel .

Life

Klusmann studied economics in Mainz , Glasgow and Hamburg . After completing his internship at the Georg von Holtzbrinck School for Business Journalists in Düsseldorf , he worked for several years as an editor in the economics and politics department for the magazine WirtschaftsWoche . From 1996 he reported on economic policy and technology trends for Manager Magazin . In 1999 he changed to the development department of the new newspaper Financial Times Deutschland (FTD), which appeared from February 2000. As head of the “Agenda” department, he was initially responsible for background reports and comments, and later became head of duty. In 2003, Klusmann briefly returned to Manager Magazin , where he held the position of deputy editor-in-chief. In August 2004 he went back to the FTD , where he was appointed editor-in-chief as the successor to Christoph Keese . On April 1, 2009, he was also given the same function at Capital . He was also the spokesman for the editors-in-chief of the Gruner + Jahr business media. After the FTD was discontinued , he moved to Stern in March 2013 as deputy editor-in-chief . From November 2013 to August 2018 Klusmann was editor-in-chief of Manager Magazin .

On August 22, 2018 it was announced that Klusmann had been appointed as the successor to Klaus Brinkbäumer as Chairman of the Editor-in-Chief of Spiegel , responsible for both the printed magazine and the news portal "Spiegel Online". The start date for the merger of the editors-in-chief was January 1, 2019.

Klusmann is an honorary member of the jury for " Top 100 ", an award for the most innovative medium-sized companies in Germany.
