features

Colored male representatives of the Erythrodiplax ines are reddish-brown in color, with the brown component dominating in the trunk area . In younger animals, the color tends to be more yellow or yellowish-brown; later red areas are still dark brown here. The top of the trunk is yellowish and has two brown stripes: a narrow one along the keel and a wider ante humeral stripe . Laterally the trunk is yellowish, brownish or greenish in color. The abdomen is yellow or yellowish brown and black along the keel. On average, the abdomen in both sexes is just over 22 millimeters long.

The wings are transparent except for a basal spot. This is yellowish in young animals, orange to red in colored individuals. In females, the spot is generally a little lighter. In the area of the basal spot, the veins are always lighter than the spot itself. The wing mark is yellowish to brown in young animals and black-reddish in older animals. Also, the wing mark of the forewings is usually lighter than that of the average 29 millimeter long hind wings. The wing mark itself measures 3.8 millimeters on average.

Similar species

The species Erythrodiplax fusca is very similar to the Erythrodiplax ines . In addition to the penis structure, the size of the basal spot can be used to differentiate. The spot can also be used to differentiate females from other members of the genus.
